Honoring Juneteenth

As we observe Juneteenth, I pause to remember and honor my friend, Dr. Ronald V. Myers, Sr., M.D. — a visionary, a healer, and a tireless advocate for justice. Dr. Myers dedicated his life to making Juneteenth a nationally recognized holiday. His unwavering commitment to freedom, faith, and community laid the groundwork for this powerful way of remembrance and celebration.

This photo of Dr. Myers appeared on the back cover of the 2011 edition of Our Heritage Magazine – a lasting tribute to a man whose mission still inspires us today.

Thank you, Dr. Myers. Your legacy lives on in every Juneteenth celebration across this country.
